A job!
Just made it official. After a rough summer of funemployment, I just accepted a position as Community Manager (and support dude) at GroupMe, which is a Hot Startup in New York. I’ve been doing it sorta freelance-like for a few weeks, but now this is some FULL TIME BUSINESS.
So, yay. Big yay.
A cool part of it is that I am one of like six or seven people here, which is great. Even better is...

Hee hee.
Academia, you guys, am I right? Was just invited (on facebook!) to trial lectures by potential English professors in Zürich. The lecture titles are MUST-READS.
The English Seminar has an 8th professorship that has been vacant for about 3 years. On November 15 and 16, 6 candidates will hold a lecture in order to apply for the open position. The students have a representative in the search...

Then read the transcript of this NPR story about the religious right’s reaction to gay content in anti-bullying programs in schools. Much has been and much more will be written about Tony Perkins’ truly repulsive comments here (in a nutshell: gay kids don’t kill themselves because people bully…
Worth the read (both the NPR thing and especially Dave’s commentary)

Addendum to previous post: Just as I hit “Create post,” I heard the part in “Born Under Punches” where Byrne says “I’m a tumbler!”.

Auditions

I’ve been auditioning for commercials, films and such for a few years now. If you know what I look like, you won’t be surprised that I don’t get called in for many “leading man” type roles. The parts I typically audition for are of the “goofy character with under ten lines” or “stoned best friend” variety. When an audition appointment is set for me by my management, it is...

GroupMe Stories: Scott Lawrence →
groupme:
Today, we have an amazing story from Scott Lawrence in San Francisco. Scott learned this summer that he has Stage IVa oral tongue cancer. He recently underwent surgery to remove a part of his tongue and replace it with an implant, which he wrote about on his blog, Scott Versus Cancer. Here’s…
Worth a read.

Max Kennedy: The World's Oldest Subway Tunnel (but... →
maxkennedy:
Yesterday, Steve and I, et al., took a tour of the Atlantic Avenue Tunnel, the world’s oldest subway tunnel. It was built in 1844, so trains on the Long Island Railroad could come into Brooklyn without mowing down passengers and cutting horses in half (a common occurrence when the trains still ran…

Seriously freaked out.
I think I have a Twitter stalker, or something?
Look at this.
His tweet is just mine but from a BlackBerry and a few days later. It happens often, too. And I don’t know this person.
Now, this is weird enough.
BUT IT GETS WEIRDER.
Sometimes he changes the content of what I’ve written just slightly.
Mine. His.
Is this the most unoriginal person ever? Can he...
