Janelle Monae ft. Big Boi - Tightrope
Hot business.
(edited because I have some more thoughts about this)
I thought Janelle Monae was America’s next big thing, like, 2 years ago (omg shut up) when she opened for Gnarls Barkley at some free show in New York. SO FAR she hasn’t “made it” made it (made it). But, just, like, look at the way she performs. I’ve seen her...

A poemsentence about today!
WATER, WATER, EVERYWHERE (no, like seriously everywhere. the floods everywhere. that possible leak in the ceiling. the thin sheen on every elevator’s floor) BUT NOT A DROP TO DRINK (because the management company behind my appy just shut off water to the entire building, adding insult to the injury of not having had gas for 3 months running and thus no use of the stove and oven.)
Everyone High-Fiving Everyone
– How Fang Island describes their music on Myspace, which is pretty accurate.
I wish I could stop talking about this band, I really do.

Eek.
This post is about wanting to write explicitly and revealingly about my life and such, and why I feel compelled to talk about ‘big themes’ like love, and rejection, and the future, or whatever, but that I also realize the pointlessness of that on a small scale, because everyone wants to talk about that stuff, and then we end up talking to ourselves. We shout into echo chambers.
It is...

Hey! A 'gay culture' blog that isn't the worst! →
Except for the parts where it sort of is, but all capital-G Gay things have to be a little bit awful.

crunkcore dilemma: 3OH!3 vs. Brokencyde
agrammar:
Yeah: I am experiencing something over here. “Crunkcore” is pretty obviously not a scene I’m incredibly tapped into, so I’ll be relying on some Tumblr friends to correct me. But man: there are some 3OH!3 choruses that totally grab and fascinate me. You can even set aside the question of whether it’s likable or not, and just consider this: is this music not poking at the edges of...
Write about Tumblr?
Hey yall.
I’m writing a superlong feature story on Tumblr (interviewing everyone involved, and whatnot) and as a sort of experiment I’d like to ask anyone who wants to do so to write thoughts and opinions about Tumblr. Crowdsourced public opinion, you see.
You can describe it as best you can, or write about why you like it so much, or why you don’t like it so much, or just...

A man's domain is his home
I now own (and tumblr on) stevespillman.net, because some bro is sitting on stevespillman.com. I did not choose to own a .net domain, but I humbly accept this fate.

Editors should just kill themselves. I should just kill them.

A Waitress Took Our Orders
“Breakfast?” the waitress asked. She wiped her left hand on her apron and her right hand across her brow and smirked. Then she scratched the top of her head and contorted her expression somewhat, for a second, then stopped and smirked again.
“Suuuure,” I said, lisping slightly. “I’ll have the, uh, eggs benedict, coffee, and some orange juice.” My...
Owen Pallett - Lewis Takes Off His Shirt
I don’t really know what’s going on in this video, but the song is great and it’s pretty to look at.
